The industrys leading resource for Internet routing solutions and scenarios
- Explore the functions, attributes, and applications of BGP-4, the de facto interdomain routing protocol, through practical
scenarios and configuration examples
- Learn the contemporary Internet structure and understand how to evaluate a service provider in dealing with routing and
connectivity issues
- Master the addressing techniques--including Classless Interdomain Routing (CIDR)--that are demanded today to facilitate the Internet's rapid and continuing growth
- Develop optimal routing policies--redundancy, traffic balancing, symmetry, and stability--for your network
- Learn how to seamlessly integrate your intradomain and interdomain routing and manage large and growing autonomous systems
Internet Routing Architectures, Second Edition explores the ins and outs of interdomain routing network designs with emphasis on
BGP-4 (Border Gateway Protocol Version 4)--the de facto interdomain routing protocol.
Using a practical, example-oriented approach, this comprehensive resource provides you with real solutions for ISP connectivity
issues. You will learn how to integrate your network on the global Internet and discover how to build large-scale autonomous
systems. You will also learn to control expansion of interior routing protocols using BGP-4, design sound and stable networks,
configure the required policies using Cisco IOS Software, and explore routing practices and rules on the Internet.

| As the means by which Internet destinations are communicated between subscribers and service providers,
BGP-4 provides a critical function for Internet operations. Whether associated with Internet service providers or enterprise
networks that depend heavily on the Internet, a background in BGP-4 is essential. Moving beyond background information, BGP
contains a great number of commands, and practical information on those commands is difficult to come by.
Cisco BGP-4 Command and Configuration Handbook is an exhaustive practical reference to the commands contained within BGP-4.
For each command/subcommand, author Bill Parkhurst explains the intended use or function and how to properly configure it.
Then he presents scenarios to demonstrate every facet of the command and its use, along with appropriate show and debug commands.
Through the discussion of functionality and the scenario-based configuration examples, Cisco BGP-4 Command and Configuration
Handbook will help you gain a thorough understanding of the practical side of BGP-4.

The comprehensive, hands-on guide to all Cisco IOS Software OSPF commands
- Stands as the complete OSPF command reference -- invaluable for network designers, engineers, and architects
- Provides configuration, troubleshooting, and verification scenarios for every possible OSPF command supported by Cisco IOS
Software that can be implemented on a minimum number of routers
- Groups OSPF commands by area of implementation -- area configuration, redistribution, neighbor relationships, and route
filtering, just to name a few
- Provides clear and concise commentary on the initial release, purpose, syntax, and usage of each OSPF command
- Offers excellent CCIE certification preparation from one of the CCIE Program Managers
- Constructed as a portable field guide with easily navigable content so you can quickly find the information you need when
you need it
As one of the most predominantly deployed Interior Gateway Protocols, Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) demands a wealth of knowledge
on the part of internetworking professionals working with it on a daily basis. Unfortunately, publicly available documentation on
the OSPF command set varies from being too thin on coverage to being too demanding on the required equipment needed to test what
the documentation covers.
Cisco OSPF Command and Configuration Handbook is a clear, concise, and complete source of documentation for all Cisco IOS Software
OSPF commands. The way you use this book will depend on your objectives. If you are preparing for the CCIE written and lab exams,
then this book can be used as a laboratory guide to learn the purpose and proper use of every OSPF command.

The comprehensive, hands-on guide for resolving IP routing problems
- Understand and overcome common routing problems associated with BGP, IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, multicasting, and RIP,
such as route installation, route advertisement, route redistribution, route summarization, route flap, and neighbor relationships
- Solve complex IP routing problems through methodical, easy-to-follow flowcharts and step-by-step scenario instructions for
troubleshooting
- Obtain essential troubleshooting skills from detailed case studies by experienced Cisco TAC team members
- Examine numerous protocol-specific debugging tricks that speed up problem resolution
- Gain valuable insight into the minds of CCIE enigineers as you prepare for the challenging CCIE exams
As the Internet continues to grow exponentially, the need for network engineers to build, maintain, and troubleshoot the growing
number of component networks has also increased significantly. IP routing is at the core of Internet technology and expedient
troubleshooting of IP routing failures is key to reducing network downtime and crucial for sustaining mission-critical
applications carried over the Internet. Though troubleshooting skills are in great demand, few networking professionals possess
the knowledge to identify and rectify networking problems quickly and efficiently. Troubleshooting IP Routing Protocols provides
working solutions necessary for networking engineers who are pressured to acquire expert-level skills at a moment's notice.
This book also serves as an additional study aid for Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) candidates.
